Our mission
Two non-profits, Michael's Light and the Be Like Tommy Project, joined forces and launched TM Original Me, middle school kindness clubs! These clubs celebrate the awesome truth that there is only one you. That only you can trademark you. That you are seen and can make a difference in the lives of others.
Original Me clubs empower its student members to create joyful and kind experiences for their school and local community. Because doing good feels good!
Our origin
The club’s visual identity features a simple TM mark inside a circle. The T stands for Tommy Nash and the M for Michael McNulty—two teens remembered for their kindness.
Though they never met, Tommy and Michael only lived a few miles apart in the Lake Minnetonka community. They were uncannily similar - both were kind, fun, confident, and emotionally intelligent. And each had a unique ability to connect with people from all walks of life.
Original Me is built in their honor—not only to remember the connection they sparked in others, but to turn that spark into a movement.
Our program
Leveraging the expertise of existing middle school counselors, social workers and high school students, we developed fun and engaging curriculum blocks with themes and related kindness activities for staff advisors to guide the club. And the program is free to schools as we provide all the supplies and as staff advisor stipend.
